A day in the paradise they call Italy...

One of the great advantages of staying at bed & breakfasts is that your host is usually some who knows the area really well. "Beruita" at Villino Erminia in Pizzo suggested Sandy and I go to the lighthouse at Faro Capo Vaticano for the best views - and actually programmed the coordinates into our GPS.

Just when we were sure we wouldn't find the place, the lighthouse popped into view. The view was stunning! We found ourselves looking almost straight down hundreds of feet into the transparent waters of paradise.

After shooting dozens - maybe hundreds - of images, we settled down on the patio overlooking paradise and enjoyed a delicious local pizza and glasses of local vino. We then topped it off with a tartufo, the dessert for which Pizzo is deservedly famous. It was a remarkable day...with more to come!

You're probably thinking, "The photo above looks like a setup shot." It wasn't. All I did was pick a position and pop the tiniest bit of fill flash on the scene. In paradise, the restaurant provides all the props...and they're for real.
